TO IBADAN
Ibadan is largest
city in Nigeria and the third largest in Africa. The University of
Ibadan, the oldest in Nigeria. It is a metropolitan city
about 90 minutes drive from Lagos. Ibadan is a major highway junction
and an important commercial and trading centre with several large
markets and industrial concerns. It is the seat of the Oyo State
government and hosts many international offices.
BRIEF
HISTORY: Created c1750,
Ibadan became part of the Niger River Delta British protectorate (later
named Southern Nigeria) in 1893. Ibadan became a city-state independent
from Oyo on 29/10/1936 and is today the capital of the State of Oyo.
